Second Mark Of The Day For Meilutyte

Istanbul, world s/c championships, day 1 semis: 

Women's 50m breaststroke

Olympic 100m champion Ruta Meilutyte, the England-based Lithuanian, set her second championships mark of the day with a 29.51 in the second semi after watching Jamaica's Alia Atkinson clock 29.62 at the helm of the first line-up. Meilutyte clocked 29.56 in heats for her first meet mark of the day this morning. At 15 in London this year, she joined the club of young teenage Olympic champions.

Men's 100m backstroke

After watching Olympic 100m champion Matt Grevers (USA) take the first semi in 50.24, defending champion Stanislav Donets (RUS) hit back with a 49.98 warning well up at the helm of the second line-up.

Men's 100m breaststroke

In the second semi, Fabio Scozzoli (ITA) took the pace on to 57.66 ahead of five others who raced inside the 58.18 in which Damir Dugonojic (SLO) had topped the first line-up.

Women's 100m backstroke

The winners of the two semis, Rachel Goh (AUS), on 57.39, and Mie Nielsen (DEN), on 57.17,  went through to the final as the top two.
