Tired by a marathon year that brought an Olympic silver medal over 400m medley, Thiago Pereira is to bypass the World Short-Course Championships in Istanbul next month.

"Olympic year is a heavy one … and I'm about to get married too," Pereira told reporters in Sao Paulo. He will also bypass the Brazilian nationals. At London 2012, he took silver behind Ryan Lochte (USA).

Pereira's  next aim in the pool will be the most prestigious FINA event, the World Championships, long-course, in Barcelona next July.
