Olympic champion and world record holder Sun Yang clocked 14:50.30 to take the Chinese national 1500m freestyle title in Huangshan, Anhui Province, for a third gold of the meet, with one day remaining.

On the time and his victories in the 200m and 400m, Sun told Xinhua: "Actually, my coach did not set a high aim for me in this event, considering that I just went through the London Olympics. But I insisted on taking every match seriously and tried my best. That is what my opponents and audience wanted from me."
