As is often the case at super-sized sports events, one of the greatest thanks for making London 2012 a success was due - and given - to the volunteers. A smiling face, the will to help and to train for a variety of task that volunteers undertake are a few of the credentials required. 

If you think your time, energy and skills could help Barcelona organisers and FINA to put on the World Championships for five Olympic sports and high diving too next summer, now is your chance in  a registration process that will run to April next year.

"The goal of the campaign is to recruit a competent, enthusiastic team that is committed to Barcelona 2013," says organisers.

Organisers have estimated that 3,000 volunteers will be needed.

Volunteers will be interviewed next April and May before recruitment takes place ahead of training for whatever the task assigned.
