Finding A Bigger Sea For Swimming

Jul 18, 2012  - Craig Lord

At USA Olympic swim trials in Omaha, audiences were treated to a daily Disney show as swimmers lined up on the big screen to sing "Just Keep Swimming" from Finding Nemo

Now, USA Swimming's partnership with Disney and Pixar, aimed at promoting the sport, has gone global. You can watch the video here, with US aces such as Natalie Coughlin, Nathan Adrian and Anthony Ervin lining up alongside Aussie Leisel Jones and Gator-based Brit Gemma Spofforth to sing Just Keep Swimming and helping attract more folk to the water.

The campaign website is "designed to help anyone get started in the sport of swimming, whether they are looking for swim lessons, a competitive team or if they want to swim for fitness", says the US federation.

It adds: "Some of the top swimming stars in the world are featured in the PSA alongside the sea creatures of Finding Nemo.

The movie will be re-released in 3D on September 14.

"Members of the USA Swimming National Team had the chance to see the 3D movie at an advanced screening during the team’s training camp in Knoxville, Tennessee. The U.S. swimmers said they enjoyed seeing the film and were especially excited to be some of the first people in the country to see it in 3D with special limited-edition snorkel goggles."

The partnership is one more example of how swimming is reaching a much wider audience because of the joint efforts of those running the sport and those doing it, the stars of the show.
