World Records Fall at Europeans

Dec 11, 1998

German swimmers Thomas Rupprath and Mark Warnecke earned themselves substantial prize money when they each set World Record times at the European Short Course Championships. Rupprath set a World Record of 24.13 in the 50m backstroke, while Warnecke set a World Record of 26.70 in the 50m breaststroke.

European Records were set by Emiliano Brembilla of Italy with a time of 3:40.45 in the 400m freestyle and Inge de Bruijn of the Netherlands with a 26.09 in the 50m butterfly.

We now have partial results from the European SC Champs from Sheffield, GBR and the Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand. The results are now posted in our Meet Results section.
