HONG KONG - Top performances were turned in by Denis Silantiev (UKR) winning the award for the best men's swim of the meet in the 100 butterfly with his time of 52.07, while Yana Klochkova was the women's top performer with her 200 individual medley time of 2:12.69. They received a special award from the organizing committee.

Other highlights:
Rene Gusperti (ITA) won the 50 free in 22.42, with Nathan Rickard (AUS) second in 22.49.

Jacob Carstensen (DEN) won the 200 freestyle in 1:49.26 after winning the 400 free last night. Denmark is here with six swimmers but picked up 6 golds for a strong performance.

In the distance free category Thomas Lohfink (GER) moved in the point lead with 59 after winning the 1500 free tonight with 15:33.18 and the 400 yesterday in 3:49.81.

Lenny Krayzelburg (USA) won the 50 backstroke in 24.78 over Stev Theloke (GER) 25.01, winner of the 100 yesterday and the 200 today with 1:55.52. Theloke holds the category points lead with 50 to Krayzelburg's 47.

Fred deBurghgraeve (BEL) was an easy winner in the 100 breast as Jens Kruppa (GER) winner of the 50 and the 200 yesterday did not contest this event. Kruppa leads the points race in this stroke with 57 to deBurghgraeve's 51.

Denis Silantiev (UKR) won the 100 butterfly in 52.07 after winning the 200 yesterday and is solidly in the lead for the points race with 74 the most by anyone at the stage in the 1999 FINA World Cup.

Tom Dolan (USA) won the 200 I.M. in a come from behind finish after trailing Jakob Andersen (DEN) until the last 50. Dolan touched in 2:02.79 with Andersen in second with 2:03.53. Dolan won the 400 I.M. yesterday while Andersen took the 100 I.M.

Sue Rolph (GBR) took the lead early in the 100 freestyle winning in 55.52, held of a late challenge from Yang Lina (CHN) whose 55.62 was second. Rolph now takes a strong lead in the sprint category points lead with 45.

Claudia Poll (CRC) won the 400 free in 4:08.37 and after her win in the 800 yesterday moved into the category points lead with 63.

Kelly Stefanyshyn (CAN) completed a sweep of all three backstroke events with a fast 1:00.75 in the 100, her second Canadian record of the competition. She leads the points race in this category with 61. Sherry Tsai set new Hong Kong records for all three backstroke events picking up bronze medals in two of them.

Sylvia Gerasch (GER) won the 50 breaststroke in 31.74 having taken the 100 yesterday with 1:09.36. In the 200 breaststroke Ina Huging (GER) held off a strong challenge to win with 2:30.27 over Gerasch with 2:30.48.

Sophia Skou (DEN) won the 200 butterfly with 2:10.17 over China's Ruan Yi who lead for the first half and was second with 2:12.47. She later won the 50 fly with 27.58. Skou was second in the 100 fly yesterday and tied for first in the 50 free.

Yana Klochkova (UKR) won the 400 I.M. tonight in 4:39.92 after a fine 200 I.M. yesterday of 2:12.69. In the 100 I.M. Sue Rolph (GBR) was the winner with 1:02.58 over Klochkova with 1:04.50. Rolph after competing in three world cups has the lead in the points race with 50 but Klochkova after only two meets has 37 and could be a serious threat.

Notes: New Hong Kong records on Sunday

• Tam Chi Kin in the men's 100 breaststroke with 1:05.00, bettering the old mark of 1:05.04 by Michael Scott, from 1997.
• Alex Fong Lik Sun bettered the 200 I.M. record with 2:05.21, the old record was 2:05.24 by Mark Kwok from 1997.
• Chui Wai Chun bettered the 1500 freestyle record with 16:32.63, the old record was 16:44.96 by Michael Scott 1996.
• Sherry Tsai Hiu Wai in the 100 backstroke with 1:02.22 bettering her own previous record of 1:03.89 from 1998.
• Sherry Tsai Hiu Wai also bettered the record in the 100 I.M. with 1:04.88, her old mark was 1:05.65.
  Hong Kong swimmers bettered nine records during the competition
