Galina Grabs Games Gold in Tokyo
Four years previously she was a non-swimmer, but on Monday , October 12th 1964 , Galina Prozumenschikova (can you say that ten times quickly?) of Sevastopol on the Black Sea, won the Tokyo Olympic 200 meters breaststroke final before a capacity crowd of 15,000. Her time was 2 minutes 46.4 seconds, a new Olympic record.
