Swimmer With Unique Distinction
German swimmer Emil Rausch holds the unique distinction of being the last swimmer to have won an Olympic Gold Medal for the sidestroke. He won the 880 yard and 1 mile sidestroke events at the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis with times of 13:11.4 and 27:18.2. It was the last time the event was held at the Olympics.
