Agnel Cracks S/C World Mark: 3:32.25

Nov 15, 2012

News Round-Up:

France: Olympic 200m freestyle champion Yannick Agnel, set a world short-course record of 3:32.25 over 400m at French nationals in Angers today. The time takes down the 3:32.77 standard set by Paul Biedermann (GER) in a shiny suit three years ago at the Berlin round of the world cup six weeks before non-textile race apparel was banned. At London 2012, Agnel also brought the French 4x100m free quartet home to victory. His latest gains over 400m in a short-course pool is stunning: he had a previous best of 3:39.91 from winter nationals two years ago, while the 3:34 textile-suit efforts of Australians Grant Hackett and Ian Thorpe have been blown out of the water.

Agnel send a nice message to Biedermann via his twitter followers, almost 40,000 of then: @PBiedermann Thank you for inspiring me...
