London 2012 Swim Tickets: £50-450 Each

Oct 16, 2010  - Craig Lord

The London 2012 Organising Committee has issued its ticket pricing structure, with two thirds of tickets priced at £50 or less and the most expensive pass-to-go a £2,000-plus seat in the opening ceremony.

In all, 8.8 million tickets will be available for the Olympic Games, 75 per cent of which will be on sale to the public from March next year. In keeping with recent trends, swimming tickets are expected to be the first to sell out.

The Games will hold 649 separate ticketed sessions across the 26 sports in July 2012 and 90 per cent of tickets will be priced at £100 pounds or less, with 66% of those at under £50, and 2.5 million tickets at £20 or less. All tickets carry the add-on of a London travelcard.

A pay-your-age scheme will operate at more than 200 sessions for all 16 and under on the day of the start of the Games, while anyone over 60 at that date will be charged a fixed fee of £16 for certain sessions that cover all sports and all venues (though will have minimal impact when it comes to the big finals sessions, we suspect...no details as yet).

The swimming tickets are priced at between £50 and £450. More information and updates on the London 2012 website.
