Eamon Sullivan (AUS) plunges into 100m freestyle battle at Pan Pacific Championships today with a newly extended contract in tow: the 24-year-old sprint ace has signed up with Speedo for a fresh deal that takes him to May 2013.

"I am very excited to be continuing my partnership with Speedo up to and beyond London 2012. Speedo ... have shown me great support over the years through good times and tough times which I really appreciate," said Sullivan, world record holder and Olympic medallist in 2008.

Hip injury and illness in 2009 kept Sullivan from racing at his best, though he did win a TV chef's show Down Under and now has a reputation beyond the pool as a useful man in the kitchen. In 2009, he watched sprint free records tumble further at the height of the shiny suits era  but is determined to get back the title of what Speedo describes as "The World’s Fastest Swimmer".
