Cavic Leads 'Fly Sprint Show

Mar 4, 2010  - Craig Lord

This Saturday March 6, a group of world-class swimmers will put on a great show at Torraca in Italy in aid of charity, one with the Haiti disaster at heart, the other dear to the heart of Milorad Cavic.

In an article penned by the swimmer and entitled 'The Journey Begins', Cavic writes: "After the World Championships in Rome, I took a long hiatus from swimming so that I could completely refresh my mind and let my body repair itself from he workload I took on preparing for my big race in Rome."

He notes one of the fruits of his downtime since Rome 2009: "One thing I had been contemplating for a long time was real charity work, and with the help of Serbia's top rated volleyball player, Ivana Djerisilo, this dream had come to fruition. Together, we sought out to help the orphans of Serbia with the hope of inspiring them or giving them the courage to see beyond what they thought was possible. This movement, which is called "Believe in Yourself", is still in its beginning stages, but we believe it has the potential to become something much larger in the future."

You can read more about that and a great many others things at Cavic's beautiful website.

This Saturday he will be joined by several of his teammates in the ADN Project of coach Andrea di Nino at the meet in Torraca, a place of high energy. The climax of the show is a clash between three of the world's fastest 'fly swimmers and top ranked short-course over 50m,  Cavic, Evgeny  Korotyshkin and Peter Mankoc. Here's an ad for the meet on YouTube.
