Australia has issued information and invitations for the 2009 Swimming Australia SKINS meet to take place on March 24 in Sydney.

The programme is described thus: "Individual events will be held for Men and Women in 50m Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and  Butterfly, 200m Mystery Individual Medley and a broken 400m Freestyle.  4 x 50m mixed  (2 Female & 2 Male) Freestyle and Medley relays will also be conducted." Great fun and a welcome break form the standard format of things - but watch out for those "records" that won't count.

The meet will feature the Rome 2009 Dolphins squad and carries a total cash prize pool of $100,000, for distributing to the first, second and third placed swimmers in each event. The event will be televised.

Further information on the programme, visas and nominations forms can be obtained from Ben Carter, SAL Event Operations Coordinator:  ben.carter@swimming.org.au. The deadline is Friday January 30.

No suggestion that the skins meet will be swum in skin, nor will Aussie and other juniors wear anything less than a fast hi-tech suit at junior pan pacs this year unless international changes have come into force despite changes to national rules that bar use of fast suits in the youth ranks of several leading countries that will send teams to the mini pan pac meet. We live in hope of a new order by the time these meets come round again in 2010.
