Good to note the result of the 1,500m free for women - 50 to 54 age group -at the Tasmanian Masters of late: 1st - Shane Gould, 19:41.55, an Australian record and an effort that came off a 10:28.19 at the 800m. That's only a minute and a half off the time she clocked on the way to silver in Munich 1972 in the midst of a week that saw her deliver what remains the best Olympic solo overall performance by a woman: three gold, a silver and a bronze, all in individual events.
Gould still swims regularly and does much for the development of the sport. Here's where you can read more about her foundation and fabulous photos.
