Laure Manaudou has abandoned the short-course winter season. The former Olympic champion who suffered dreadful form in Beijing, recently returned to training in Marseilles but now says that she will not race at the French s/c championships and the European short-course championships in Croatia as previously planned.

On her website, Manaudou announces in a video: "I will start to prepare for the French long-course championships in April in Montpellier for selection to the world championships...I will not race this short-course season. As such I will not take part in the championships of France and Europe [December]." The decision was taken after discussions with Romain Barnier, former French international and Manaudou's latest coach.
