The early leader, Lindsay Beavers, 16, STARS, split 1:02.3 at the 100, closely followed by Legault, Schwartz, Bertelink, and Ebert at 200 and 300.
Beavers held a narrow lead at 300.

At 500, Beavers still held a slight lead, with Schwartz and Bertelink within a second.
Schwartz and Beavers were virtually tied at the 600, with Bertelink and Ebert, who had yet to start kicking, a second back.

Beavers still led at 700 with Ebert now moving to second.

On the last 50, Schwartz moved into the lead, winning with 8:51.99. Beavers was second with 8:51.99 and Ebert third with 8:52.21.

Women's 200 Breaststroke

Women's 100 Freestyle

Good pacing for Shannon Shakespeare, 20, HWAC, allowed her to win with 56.68. Only fourth at the 50, with 27.65, she took the lead after the turn and held off all challengers.

In second was Laura Nicholls, 18, ROW, with 56.88.
Nicole Davey, 18, COBRA, was third with 57.00 and Allison Zwarich, 16, UCSC, was fourth with 57.23, qualifying all four for the 4x100 free relay.

Men's 100 Freestyle

Stephen Clarke, 24, ROW, was second at the 50 with 24.45, but took the lead early on the second length and easily won with 50.48.

Craig Hucthison, 22, PCSC, was second with 51.19. Eddie Parenti, 26, PDSA was third with 51.72.
The times of the top four finishers was too slow for Canadian relay entry at Pan Pacs.

Women's 200 Butterfly

There were hopes for a sub 2:10 time from Jessica Deglau, 16, PDSA, who had posted near personal bests in early July. She attacked the race and was ahead of record pace at the 100. She managed only to tie her existing time of 2:11.40 from last summer.
Her splits were 30.71, 1:03.17, 1:37.35 and 2:11.40.

Jennifer Button, 19, ROW, took the silver with 2:13.54, a personal best, and Sara Alroubaie, 15, MANTA, took the bronze with 2:16.97.

Men's 200 Butterfly

Shamek Pietucha, 20, EKSC, took the lead at the 50 and held on until the 150, when Casey Barrett, 22, PDSA moved to the front and, in a close finish, won with 2:01.13. Pietucha was second with 2:01.75, and Philip Weiss, 18, PSW, was third with 2:01.77. The race was always between the top three.

1:30.20 1:30.09 1:30.34
2:01.13 2:01.75 2:01.77

The Pan Pac standard was 2:00.60 - only the winner will get to go.

Men's 1500 Freestyle

Michael McWha, 20, WAC, had a lot to shoot for, after missing the Olympics last year. He made sure he would be in the lead as long as possible and got well ahead of the field. At 500 he had a 12 second lead over Brent Sallee, 20, PDSA and Mark Johnston, 17, BROCK.
