British Gas Open Invites Entries

Jan 3, 2013

Entries opened today for the inaugural British Gas International Swimming Meet in March. The meet is staged in place of what would have been national championships and trials for the world championships.

A review into London 2012 performances concluded that trials should be held much closer to the main event, in June.

Domestic and foreign swimmers can enter the Open, which is backed by the energy supplier as part of a deal worth £15m over six years for the federation, British Swimming.

The long-course event will run from March 7-10 at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds, with morning heats and evening finals. There will also be junior finals each evening. The British Open coincides with the French short-course nationals in Chartres.

The closing date for Open entries is noon on Wednesday, February 13. Further information and online entry.
