Kentucky Wildcats Split With Tennessee, IUPUI

Nov 11, 2000

The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams split against the visiting Tennessee women and IUPUI men. The women defeated the Volunteers last season but fell to the squad Friday, Nov. 10 by a score of 142-101. The men defeated the IUPUI Jaguars with a score of 133.50 to 78.50.

The Wildcat men (2-0) captured both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay, though the freestyle relay was exhibition. The freestyle relay nearly broke the school record (1:20.12) as the men swam to a time of 1:21.04. The men finished first in every race. Diver Aaron Kirkpatrick dove a lifetime best score of 355.20 in the three-meter to win the event.

The women (1-2) won five events, including two apiece by Carolyn Rader and Jaime Siegele. Rader took the 200 and 500 freestyles, while Siegele captured the 50 and 100 freestyles. Kelli Stein capped off the night by finishing first in the 200 breaststroke, a feat she has enjoyed in every dual meet this season.
