EAST LANSING, Mich. - In their second meeting this year, the Michigan State men's swimming and diving team defeated Eastern Michigan in East Lansing this evening. Michigan State scored 131.5 points over EMU's 106.5, placing first in every individual swimming event except the 50 freestyle. The schools last met in Ypsilanti for the Eastern Michigan quad meet in which EMU took second over MSU by 38 points.

Junior Aaron Mahaney (Easton, Penn.) and sophomore Joe Brennan (Poway, Calif.) greatly impacted the Spartans performance, each placing first in two events. Mahaney placed first in the 1000 freestyle and the 200 butterfly while Brennan took first in the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle.

Head coach Jim Lutz stated that he was "encouraged by the meet today. The team stayed focused throughout their races, showing that the proper foundation was laid in practices."

The men's swimming and diving will be in action again on November 30th for the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
