The United States continued too stamp its authority on world swimming as four sprinters spoiled the party for hosts Brazil at the Raia Rápida [Fast Lane] dash duel in Rio. Adam Mania, Mike Alexsandrov, Eugene Godsoe and Josh Schneider clocked 1:38.07 in the 4x50m medley relay, the winning time in an event only swum shorst-course in championship waters - and then only in Europe. The mark was inside the previous best ever, 1:38.81, clocked by an Australian quartet at a sprint special Down Under in April 2010. There is no world record for the 4x50 medley, the Rio event a made-for-TV moment.
