Quann & Moses Complete Sweeps At Us Open

AUBURN, Ala. - Olympians Megan Quann of Puyallup and Ed Moses of Curl-Burke completed sweeps of the breaststroke events, winning the 200m distance tonight in 2:26.16 and 2:11.22, respectively. Quann's 100m breast meet record of 1:07.25 on Thursday was named the Phillips 66 Performance of the Meet.

Two meet records were broken on the final night. Robert Margalis of St. Petersburg won his second title of the meet, breaking the meet record in the 1500m free with a 15:03.04. Margalis also won the men's high point award with wins in the 400m IM and 1500m free, second-place finishes in the 200m IM and 400m free and a third-place showing in the 200m free. Michael Picotte of North Coast captured his second title of the meet, breaking the meet record in the men's 100m free with a time of 49.51.

Maggie Bowen of Auburn won the women's high point award, taking titles in the 200m IM and 400m IM, while finishing fourth in the 100m and 200m breast, fifth in the 200m free and sixth in the 200m fly.

Jamie Reid, also of Puyallup, won the women's 200m fly in 2:10.21 tonight, adding to her title in the 200m back. The men's event was won by Greg Reeves on Florida in 1:58.01.

Sixteen-year-old Christina Swindle of Miami also claimed her second title of the meet, winning the 100m free in 54.89, the only swimmer in the field to break 55 seconds.

Florida freshman Janelle Atkinson and Auburn freshman Magda Dyskiewicz battled for the 800m free title, with Atkinson pulling away in the last 100 to win in 8:29.13 to 8:32.90. It was Atkinson's second title of the meet as well.
