A Legend Returns: Janet Evans At Austin GP

The Austin Grand Prix on January 13-15 will feature triple Olympic champion of 1988 Janet Evans, 40, racing in the same pool as Missy Franklin, 16, and the first 2012 races between the two men heading for one of the most anticipated showdowns at the London Olympics in July, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte.

Evans, being coached by Mark Schubert, her guide on the way to the 1992 Olympic Games after Bud McAllister was her mentor first Games round, will race the 400m and 800m free at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, venue for the second event of the seven-meet 2011-2012 USA Swimming Grand Prix Series.

A line up of big names includes Peter Vanderkaay, Nathan Adrian, Katie Hoff, Ed Moses, Kate Ziegler, Elizabeth Beisel, Kara Lynn Joyce as well as Fred Bousquet and Laure Manaudou of France, Gideon Louw and Sebastien Rousseau of South Africa and Gemma Spofforth of Florida and Great Britain.
