ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The 16th-ranked University of Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team earned its eighth dual meet victory of the year over Illinois 200.5 - 145.5 at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Irish compiled a complete team effort to secure the victory over the Illini, dominating the top-five of every event on Saturday. Notre Dame was not scored against Michigan and will meet the Wolverines in a dual meet Jan. 26.

The 200 medley relay team of junior Kelly Hecking (Rutherford, NJ) and freshmen Laurie Musgrave (Littleton, Colo.), Lisa D'Olier (Houston, Texas) and Danielle Hulick (Galesburg, Ill.) began Saturday's competition on a high note, taking first place in 1:47.30. Marie Labosky (Churchville, Pa.) followed with a victory in the next event, the 400 individual medley (4:25.56). Labosky also claimed first place in the 200 IM in the first day of competition on Friday, Jan. 12, to earn a sweep in the IM events at the Invitational.

D'Olier kept the team in the lead with a second-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (57.84), just out-touched by Michigan's Jennifer Crisman. The 200 freestyle came next and a strong team showing by senior Kristen Van Saun (Lawrence, Kan.), sophomore Lindsay Moorhead (Carefree, Ariz.) and senior Brenda Reilly (White Plains, NY), finishing in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively, helped Notre Dame expand their lead over the Illini.

Hecking continued her strong swimming by taking first in the 100 yard backstroke (57.40) in the sixth event of the day, followed by Hulick in second place (58.84).

Junior diver Heather Mattingly (Houston, Texas) joined Labosky in sweeping their specialty events in the Invitational, as Mattingly won the three-meter diving event (302.40 points) after winning the one-meter competition the day before.
