Terrapin Swim Teams Split With Pittsburgh

COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The University of Maryland swimming and diving teams had mixed results Friday evening versus Pittsburgh at the Campus Recreation Center Natatorium.

The Terrapin women, ranked No. 16 in the latest CSCAA Top 25, improved to 8-0 on the year with a 144-99 win over Pittsburgh. The men's team battled No. 18 Pittsburgh down to the final event before falling to the Panthers, 139-104. The defeat was the first of the season for the men as they fall to 7-1.

"We had some good swims today against a quality opponent in the University of Pittsburgh," commented Terrapin coach Jim Wenhold following the meet. "We have some real difficult meets ahead of us, however, we are still focusing on the ACC Championships as our top priority."

For the women, senior Suzy Catterson (Reno, Nev.) won two events for the Terps. Catterson took top honors in the 50 free (23.32) and the 100 free (50.98). The Nevada native also was part of the Terps
