Boston College Defeats Georgetown and Maine

CHESTNUT HILL Mass.- The Boston College women's swimming and diving team defeated Maine, while the men's team won against Maine and Georgetown tonight at the Flynn Complex pool in Chestnut Hill, Mass. BC women downed the Hoyas 143-125. The BC men defeated Georgetown 136-97 and Maine 159-66.

Boston College women's team took seven out of 13 possible first places. In the first event of the night, Nina Suyoutomo, Michelle Lane, Lauren Schwartz and Caitlin Klick won the 400 medley relay. In the 200 freestyle, Klick won the event. Winning the 200 individual medley Lane swam a time of 2:15.18. In the one-meter diving event, Kristen Gray won her first event of the night. She later followed up with a win in three-meter diving. In the 100 freestyle, Suryoutomo took first place. In the final event of the evening, Klick, Alexis Kostopoulos, Nicole Duffy and Suryoutomo took first place in the 400 freestyle relay.

In the men's events, Boston College took eight first places out of 13. Winning the first event of the night for the Eagles, John Sourbeer took the 1000 freestyle. Andy Naumann won the 200 individual medley followed by Nick Riolo winning the 200 butterfly. Wining the one-meter diving event, Mike Wilt collected 279.80. Taking his second event of the evening, Naumann won the 200 backstroke while Sourbeer followed with his second win in 500 freestyle. Winning the three-meter diving, Wilt took his second win of the night. The last win of the night came from Brian O'Neill in the 200 breaststroke.

In other scores, Maine's women defeated Georgetown 125-115. While the Georgetown men beat Maine 154-85.

Boston College women's swimming and diving record improves to 9-2 overall and the men improve to 9-4.

The next competition for the women's swimming diving team will take place on Wed, Feb. 1 at 6:00 p.m. at Flynn Complex Pool , in Chestnut Hill, Mass. against Northeastern. On Tues. Jan. 31 the men's team will travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m.
