Boston College Downs Northeastern

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-The Boston College women'ss swimming and diving team took 11 first place finishes to Northeastern'ss five to defeat the Huskies 184-166 at the Flynn Complex Pool in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Taking surprising wins in diving, Kristen Gray won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.

Coming out strong, the Eagles took the lead, after Nina Suryoutomo, Michelle Lane, Lauren Schwartz and Alexis Kostopoulos won the 200 medley relay and never looked back. Winning the next event, Caitlin Leahy took first in the 1000 freestyle.

In the 100 backstroke, Brianne Sullivan took the first of her two individual wins. The second came in the 200 backstroke. Lane won her only individual event of the night in the 100 breaststroke. Winning the 50 freestyle, Suryoutomo also won the 100 freestyle. In the 200 breaststroke, Kostopoulos won the event.

Putting forth a top effort, diver Kristen Gray won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Ending the meet with one more push for team victory, Nicole Duffy, Caitlin Klick, Kostopoulos and Suytoutomo won the 400 freestyle event.

With the win Boston improves to 10-2-0 overall and Northeastern falls to 7-2.

The Boston College women'ss swimming and diving team will end their regular season, with their last home meet against BIG EAST rival St. John'ss on Sat. Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. The meet will honor the seniors in their last home meet at the Flynn Complex Pool.
