21.55 For Cielo In the 50 Freestyle

Cesar Cielo (BRA) won the 50 free in 21.55 (the first to better the pre 2008 world best of 21.64 by Alexander Popov (RUS) from 2000) at the Open EDF Paris 2010. Cielo won the top men's performer prize money of 10,000 euros.
Cielo won the 50 free in a very fast field with the first three under 22.00, with Fabien Gilot (FRA) second in 21.83 and Frederick Bousquet (FRA) in third with 21.95.
Backstroker Camille Lacourt (FRA) won the 50 back in 24.82 over a strong field including Randall Bal (USA) in second 25.24 and Liam Tancock (GBR) in third with 25.43.
The win earned Lacourt 7,500 euros for the second best performance of the competition.
Mark Gangloff (USA) in winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.73 earned 4,000 euros.
Michael Phelps (USA) won the 200 individual medley in 1:58.95, but was only third in the 200 freestyle in 1:47.54 behind winner Yannick Agnel (FRA) with 1:46.30, and Sebastiaan Verschuren (NED) in second with 1:47.54.

Women's highlights
Top women's race was in the 400 freestyle with Coralie Balmy (FRA) winning with 4:05.40 with Camille Muffat (FRA) a close second in 4:05.49. These were the top performances for women with Balmy winning 10,000 euros and Muffat 7,500 euros.
Therese Alshammar (SWE) kept her 50 butterfly winning streak alive with 25.76, worth 4,000 euros.
Ranomi Kromiwidjojo (NED) won the 100 freestyle in 54.08
Elizabeth Pelton (USA) won the 100 backstroke in 59.99, her personal best by half-a-second.
