Fast Times On Day Two In Monte Carlo

Men's highlights

Camille Lacourt (FRA) added the 50 backstroke win with his 24.81 (third fastest in the world for 2010) for the top rated men's performance of the two day competition. He bested Daniel Arnamnart (AUS) 25.56.

An all french sprint final as Frederick Bousquet (FRA) won in 21.84, with Alain Bernard second in 22.17

Paul Biedermann (GER) posted the second fastest time for the year with his 200 freestyle win in 1:46.82 with Brent Hayden (CAN) in second with 1:49.32 and Alexander Sukhorukov (RUS) third with 1:49.45.

Marcus Rogan (AUT) won the 200 backstroke in 1:58.71 just ahead of Aaaron Peirsol (USA) in 1:58.91.

Daniel Gyurta (HUN) touched in first 1:01.58 for the 100 breaststoke edging Kosuke Kitajima (JPN) 1:01.63 and Grigory Falko (RUS) 1.01.79.  Hendrik Feldwehr won the 50 breaststroke in 27.92

Geoff Huegill (AUS) won the 50 fly duel 23.85 to Steffen Deibler (GER) in 23.86. While Nikolay Skvortsov (RUS) won the 100 fly in 52.80.

Oussama Mellouli (TUN) was fastest in the 400 individual medley with 4:15.57, with Thiago Pereira (BRA) in second with 4:17.55.

Women's highlights

Sprint queen Therese Alshammar (SWE) won the 50 free and 50 fly duels in convincing fashion. 24.94 in free, and 25.64 for the fly.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo (NED) won the 100 freestyle in 54.14 over Dana Vollmer (USA) 54.78.

Blair Evans (AUS) won the 400 free 4:07.39 (nith fastest of the year) edging Camille Muffat (FRA ) 4:07.59.

Yulia Efimova (RUS) won the 50 breaststroke in a world leading time of 30.35 and the top women's performance for the two day competition. Rebecca Soni (USA) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.45, giving her four of the top 10 swims for the distance in 2010 including the top two.

Jing Zhao (CHN) won the 50 backstroke duel in 27.94 after winning the 100 back in 1:00.86.

Samantha Hamill (AUS) won a close 200 fly in 2:09.19 with Martina Granstrom (SWE) in second with 2:09.34 and Mireia Belmonte (ESP) third with 2:09.87.

Camille Muffat (FRA) was fastest in the 200 individual medley with 2:11.55 over Hannah Miley (GBR) in 2:13.62.

The Mare Nostrum series moves to Barcelona 9-10 June.
