Tancock Twitters On Day Off With Damon

Mar 30, 2010  - Craig Lord

Liam Tancock, world champion, will not contest the final of the 50m backstroke this evening at British trials. The event is not a selection race at trials, with 50m events at European titles and Commonwealth Games open only to those who make the grade in the 100m. Not racing the final here in Sheffield over 50m had always been part of Tancock's plan.

On Twitter this afternoon, Tancock noted he was off to see Green Zone, the Matt Damon movie. He is now in the Ponds Forge venue, however, his latest Twitter, staying "Film over - off to watch finals". A smiling Tancock breezed past the media bench and said the movie was "great".

Teammate at Loughborough, Fran Halsall, also coached by Ben Titley, was unimpressed. She Twittered back: "have a holiday why don't ya - a couple of 50s then a day off pfff ;)"...
