Five Records Fall on Day One of CIAU Championships

Guelph, ON - The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds surged to the front of the pack in both the men's and women's team scores. University of Toronto, followed by Calgary round out the top 3 women's teams. Toronto and Calgary switched positions for second and third in the men's standings.

The meet started with a convincing win for Laval's Sophie Simard as she just missed a Canadian record and demolished the CIAU record with a 1:57.99 200FR. The time puts her 9th in the current world rankings. Jessica Deglau from UBC was second in 1:59.27 and UNB's Carla Guerts was third with 1:59.83

Last year's 200FR gold medallist Mark Johnson missed qualifying for the final which was won by Calgary's Rick Say 1:46.65 just off O
