Canadian Record and 4 CIAU Records Tumble on Day 2

Guelph, Ontario - Continued fast swimming was the order of the day as 5 more national records were washed away. No less than 6 swimmers captured their 2nd individual gold medals of the competition and UBC solidified their hold on the team scores.

Julie Howard from Toronto started the evening off with her second backstroke gold in CIAU record time relegating Kelly Stefanyshyn to her third silver of the meet. Howard's 1:00.69 is her fastest time in several years and demolished her own 1997 record.

Guelph Gryphon Sean Sepulis was off his best, 53.69 of two weeks ago but swam fast enough to take the 100BK over Versfeld and Pichette.

In the 50FL Jen Button from Toronto earned her second gold 27.86, while UBC Garrett Pulle was off his own national record but fast enough to take his first win of the meet and capture the CIAU record in 24.40.

The 400FR provided perhaps the greatest thrill of the evening as Sophie Simard, Laval, came from 2 seconds of the pace at the 200 and 300 with a blistering 29.9 final 50 to overtake Carla Guerts swimming for UNB, 4:09.40 to 4:09.77.
