USA: The LA Times carries a story that lists Chuck Wielgus, head of USA Swimming, among six candidates for the position of chief executive of the United States Olympic Committee. As head of a sport that in the US boast one of the greatest success stories in world sport, Wielgus must surely stand a good chance. We wish him well.

Superfish: Follow the latest on Michael Phelps  at the Washington Post's reachforthewall.com, as he races to the helm again in a local meet over 400y medley (yes, 400...) and 100y back.

US Colleges: The NCAA plans to list two sets of records for the coming season, a source tells Swimming World: one shiny suits 2008-09 and the other the record that stood before the nonsense began. Bodysuits and suits made of non-textile fabrics will be banned from the race pool from January 1, 2010 because they enhance performance well beyond the natural capacity of athletes and skew results by benefitting some more than others. Last year was the only year that shiny suits were allowed and Auburn's win in the Jaked01 caused something of a stir among teams that had no access to the booster suits.
