NCAA Zone B Diving Championships Finish In Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. - The diving rosters for the NCAA Championships are now set as competition concluded Saturday evening at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Athens. Three Georgia divers qualified for the their respective championships, while a total of 14 men and 11 women will make the trip to nationals.
In the morning competition, Jud Campbell finished fourth in the men's 3-meter springboard with a score of 542.00. This is the second top-five finish for Campbell after taking first in the men's 1-meter springboard event on Friday. Fellow Bulldog Kris Daugherty took 12th on the 3-meter with an overall score of 487.60. Daugherty qualified for the men's NCAA Championships with a top-five performance on the men's 1-meter during Friday's competition.
Gabi Chereches of Tennessee won his second event of the day with a first-place finish on the men's platform. LSU's Corey Fox and Erik Petursson finished second and third, respectively, on platform. Campbell finished eighth with a score of 434.85, while Daugherty finished 18th with a score of 333.15.
Lauren King, who qualified for NCAAs with a fifth-place finish on the 3-meter springboard on Friday, finished 24th on the women's 1-meter on Saturday. Four of the top five divers on the 3-meter were from the University of Miami, including Olympian Jenny Keim, who finished first in the event.
Tennessee's Lizzy Flynt took top honors in the platform event with a final score of 465.45, followed by teammate Kylee Wells with a score of 417.20. Georgia's King began platform competition, but was forced to retire after seven dives due to shoulder pain.
The women's swimming and diving team will head to Long Island, N.Y. for the NCAA Championships beginning March 15. The three-day event will take place at the Nassau County Aquatics Center, which was the site of the Goodwill Games. The men's NCAA Championships will be held at Texas A&M March 22-24, in College Station, Texas.
