Rome 2009, Day 6
Men's 50m freestyle heats
Cesar Cielo (BRA) and his X-Glide followed up their victory in the 100m freestyle last night with a 21.37 blast in the 50m free heats in pursuit of adding the world crown to the Olympic title he claimed in Beijing.
Next through, Stefan Nystrand (SWE), on 21.56, Fred Bousquet (FRA), on 21.63, George Bovell (TRI), Nathan Adrian (USA), 21.68 and Amaury Leveaux (FRA), on 21.70.
The 22.03 in which Bart Zizierowski (POL) went through as fastest qualifier in Melbourne 2007 would have been the only time that would have made the top-16 cut in Rome two years on. The 22.06 and 22.09 of Eamon Sullivan (AUS) and Cullen Jones (USA): out.
