Three New Marks At China Nationals

In Shaoxing at China nationals, Asian champ Chen Zuo shaved 0.02sec off the regional 100m freestyle record when he led the way in semis in 48.89. He told Xinhua: "As a 27-year-old, I don't have any advantages against my younger rivals. I will try my best in tomorrow's final."

Zhao Jing also clocked a national mark in the semis: over 50m backstroke, her 28.02 was 0.07sec inside the standard that had stood to Yang Li of the Chinese Army team.

Qu Jingyu of the Chinese Navy team won the men's 50m breaststroke in a Chinese record of 27.74. The mark had stood to Zeng Qiliang at 27.83.

Former world silver medallist Yang Yu claimed the 200m free in 1:57.08 ahead of Zhu Qianwei, of Shanghai, and Liu Jing, of Beijing, on 1:57.43 and 1:57.69, respectively. Watch that 4x200m relay.

Chen Yin may hay while world championship medallist Wu Peng was away nursing an elbow injury: in 1:56.84, Chen won the 200m butterfly.

Today sees Liu Zige, Olympic champion, and Jiao Liuyang, silver medallist in Beijing, go head-to-head in lanes 4 and 5 of the 200m butterfly final after they led the way in semis.
