Roland Schoeman, who recently broke the world short-course record over 50m freestyle, has withdrawn from the 2008 World Cup Series on the eve of his nation's hosting of the second round of the event, in Durban this weekend.
Schoeman has two herniated discs in his lower back, according to reports out of Africa. He has undertaken medical treatment and physiotherapy and will not be back to full training for several weeks.
