Andrew Craven Named National Team Coach for Swimmers with a Disability

Apr 30, 2001

SNC announced the appointment of Andrew Craven of London, Ontario as the head coach of Canada's national team for swimmers with a disability.

Craven was head coach of the incredibly successful Canadian team that won 48 medals and set 24 world records at the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney last October. As national team head coach for swimmers with a disability, Craven will be responsible for planning and implementing all programs for the team. In addition, he will be the team leader of all national team tours in this area.

Craven takes on this new responsibility in addition to his current coaching duties as the head age group coach at the London Aquatic Club. The 38-year-old also coaches 2000 Paralympians Brad Sales, Adam Purdy, and Marie Dannhaeuser at the London Club.

Last month, Craven was recognized by Swimming/Natation Canada as the coach of the year for 2000 in the swimmers with a disability category for his exceptional accomplishments in Sydney.
