Japanese Coach Commits Suicide

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Japanese Swimming Coach Yutaka Terao, 58 of Tokyo committed suicide on Monday at at a Gun Range in Pompano Beach, Florida. Terao went to the gun range in order to rent the weapon which he turned and used on himself.
Just 2 days earlier he had attend ceremonies at the International Swimming Hall of Fame to see a close friend of his, former Japanese Olympic coach, Kouji Katoh inducted.
Terao, who owned a successful chain of swimming schools in Japan and at one time worked as a coach in the US, at Harvard and Alabama was fighting a losing battle with cancer at the time of his death.
Terao's leaves behind a wife and two daughters, who were at home in japan at the time of his suicide.
