Thomas Rupprath set a German national record and became Germany's first swimmer to go under 24 seconds for the mens 50m butterfly when he won the event with a time of 23.89 at the German National Championships in Braunschweig.

His time is 0.22 seconds better than his old record set last year.

Sandra Volker also set a national record in the womens 50 freestyle with her time of 24.72, bettering her previous record in the event.
