Florencia Szigeti from Mendoza, Argentina and coached by Claudio Capezzone, who is training and studying at ASU, set a new south american record in 200 free short course meters during the first night of the Argentinian Short Course Nationals being held in Santa Fe. She clocked a 1:59.43, enough to place her on the team for the 2002 World SC Championships in Moscow.

Jose Meolans had a time of 48.22 in 100 meter free and also earned himself a place on the team going to Moscow.

Maria Virginia Garrone, from Cordoba coached by Daniel Garimaldi established a new national record in the 100 m butterfly with 1:02.20.
