Argentina Short Course Nationals - Day 2

Jose Meolans managed to set a South American Record in the mens 100 IM with his time of 55.82, bettering the old record of 56.66 held by Jose Souza of Brazil. In a close second place was Pablo Abal who clocked 55.97. Several other records fell on the second night of competition at the Argentine Short Course Nationals and trials for World Short Course Champs in Moscow 2002.

Earlier in the day in the prelims Pablo Abal established a new national record in 50m butterfly 23.97, erasing Meolans's record of 24.36.

Cecilia Biagioli of the Jockey Club Cordoba set a national record in 400 meter free (4:16.+, tenth's to be confirmed tomorrow) in route to her victory in the 800 meter freestlye where bettered the junior national record of 8.45.50 and earned a trip to Moscow.

Maria Virginia Garrone, also from the Jockey Club Cordoba improved her own national record in 200 IM with a time of 2:18.07. Five more junior national records were set on the second day.
