The Alabama Swimming and Diving started its 2001-02 season with the first of three-meets held on the University of Arkansas campus as part of the two-day Southeastern Conference West Challenge.

Tonight the teams swam in a nine-event meet scored as a championship event. The individual swimming events consisted of off-distances, including 150-yards of each competitive stroke and a 500 individual medley.
