EAST LANSING, Mich. - The men's swimming and diving team picked up its second victory of the year with a 143-97 win against Michigan State at the Charles McCaffree Pool in East Lansing Friday evening. The Bulldogs won 13 of the 16 events en route to the victory. Georgia is now 2-1 on the year and will face Michigan Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.

The Spartans (0-2) won three freestyle events, and the Bulldogs (2-1, 0-1 SEC) swept the rest. Georgia started the night by winning the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome of Peter Osborn, Kyle Salyards, Jason Gagnon and Nicolas Kintz took first with a time of 1:35.03. Osborn later added a victory in the 100-yard backstroke (51.66). Scot Davis' time of 9:35.81 in the 1000-yard freestyle was good enough for first place.

The 400-yard individual medley was a strong event for Georgia, as the Bulldogs finished 1-2-3 in the event, led by Brent McAuliffe with a winning time of 4:02.47. Brian Scannell picked up a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.19, while Andrew Mahaney won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:40.97. Freshman Matt DuBois touched the wall with a season-best time of 58.28 to take first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In the diving well, Georgia freshman Todd Avery swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events, while junior Kris Daugherty finished second in both. Avery posted a collegiate-best score of 303.45 on the 1-meter, while tallying 273.60 points on the 1-meter.

"Our guys were tired, but I thought we did as well as we could have done," head coach Jack Bauerle said. "We need to be a little sharper against Michigan tomorrow. Overall we swam pretty good in all areas."

The Bulldogs will face the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.
