Cincinnati Bearcats Lose To Indiana University

Bloomington, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost their first meet of the year on Saturday night when they fell to Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.

The women's team led by junior Sofia Svensson (Eslov, Sweden/Bergaskolan) lost 158-141 while the men's team led by junior Steven McLeod (Mt. Vernon, Ind./Mt. Vernon) fell 125-116.

Svensson finished first in the 200 fly, 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley in times of 2:16, 2:17 and 2:21 while sophomore Maria Oberg (Sjobo, Sweden/Kilppans Gymnaneskola) won the 400 and 800 freestyle events. Freshmen Nelly Jorgensen (Selsingborg, Sweden/Filbornaskolan), Monica Loosova (Brno, Czech Rebublic/Spordovino Gymnazium) and Serena McGibbon (West Vancouver, British Columbia/Magee Secondary) finished first in the 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, respectively.

McLeod won the 400 and 800 freestyle events in times of 4:00.29 and 8:12.31 while junior Kevin Dupis (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia/Auburn Drive) won the 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke. Sophomore Ryan McNally (Mt. Vernon, Ind./Mt. Vernon) and senior Agustin Guzman (Chiapas, Mexico/Mission Viejo) finished first in the 50 freestyle and 200 fly.
