USC Defeats Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. - USC's No.4 women's and No. 5 men's swimming and diving teams, competing in a short course meters format, won their first dual meets of the season, each downing their Arizona State counterparts on Saturday (Nov. 13) in Tempe.

The men's side won, 163-137, and the women's team won, 172-128.

Multiple winners for the men's team included junior Leonardo Costa (100 and 200 back), junior Gabe Woodward (50 and 100 free) and sophomore Mark Warkentin (400 and 800 free).

Double winners for the women were freshman Asa Sandlund (400 and 800 free), senior Paige Francis (50 free and 100 back) and junior Corrie Murphy (200 back and 400 IM).

Among USC's top times of the day were Murphy's NCAA automatic time in the 400 IM (4:42.72) and freshman Michala Kwasny's NCAA consideration time in the 100 fly (1:00.95), which was just short of an automatic time.
