More Records at the Maccabiah Games

A total of four new records were set on Tuesday night at the Maccabiah Games taking place at the Wingate Institute near Netanya.

Shai Livnat of Israel won the men's 200m freestyle in a Maccabiah record time of 1:50.39. Livnat edged out American Scott Goldblatt who finished second in 1:50.77 and third place finisher and the previous record holder American Bryan Goldberg who finished in 1:50:93.

Daniel Medwed continued breaking records setting his third Maccabiah record with a time of 54.51 in the mens 100m butterfly.

American Jared Campbell was disqualified in the junior men's 400m individual medley after winning the event. His coach spoke to referee but was told Campbell was disqualified for turning on his back shoulder and kicking too many times on his stomach. Campbell later went on to win the junior men's 100m butterfly in a time of 58.49 seconds.

The US Men capped off the evening by winning the men's 4x100m freestyle with a time of 3:27.24.

American Melanie Pascal collecte two gold and one silver medal. Her first gold came in the junior women's 100m butterfly which was followed by a win in the junior women's 400m individual medley. Later she picked up a silver medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay.

American Payton Johnson won the women's 100m butterfly in a record setting time of 1:02.45. The previous record was held by Israeli Rotem Peled.

Maya Finkler of Israel won a gold in the 200m freestyle with a record tying time of 2:04.24. She later won a gold on the Israeli women's 4x100m freestyle team. The won in a record setting time of 3:58.62. The previous record was held by the US Women and dated back to 1993.
