Germany's star female backstroker, Antje Buschschulte, has elected to enter the European Short Course Championships after mentioning that she would previously not be attending earlier in the week. Buschschulte is entered in the 50 and 100 backstroke, but not the 200, which many consider to be her best event.

Antje is also an accomplished freestyler, having swam a 54.39 in the 100m free at the 2000 German Olympic Trials. It is unclear as to whether she will swim freestyle on any of Germany's relays though.
