NBAC has garnered 17 World Records (14 Individual and 3 Relay) 31 American Records, and won two USA National Women's Championships. To date the club has set 180 USA National Age Group Records and over 5000 Maryland State records.

The North Baltimore Aquatic Club is a world leader in competitive aquatics. From its powerful international performance program to its unique swimming lesson system, NBAC strives to provide world class instruction and training to athletes of all ages and abilities. Through 37 years of careful planning, tireless effort and unwavering commitment to its goals, NBAC has earned a place among the USA's elite. Having developed the vast majority of its swimming stars from its own grass roots programs, NBAC offers a truly unique swimming experience.

A Tradition Of Achievement
Head coach and CEO, Murray Stephens, has served as a USA Coach for the 1996 Olympic Games, the 1998 World Championships and numerous other international teams. Former Senior Coach, Bob Bowman, was a USA Coach for the 2001 and 2003 World Championships and the 2004 US Olympic Team. Stephens (1996) and Bowman (2001 and 2003) were named Coach of the Year by both the American Swimming Coaches Association and USA Swimming. No other club has had 2 coaches accomplish this achievement.

NBAC swimmer, Michael Phelps, was named USA Swimmer of the Year in 2001, 2003 and 2004. Michael's Olympic performance in Athens defined the Games. He became the first swimmer to garner 8 medals in one Olympics, 6 gold, 2 bronze; the only Olympic athlete to ever achieve this honor in a non-boycotted Games. Michael joins a long list of distinguished NBAC international competitors which include Olympic Gold medalists Anita Nall Beth Botsford, and Theresa Andrews. Olympic finalist Katie Hoff joins other NBAC Olympians including Patrick Kennedy and Whitney Metzler. NBAC dominates local competitions and won the Eastern Zone Sectional Title in 2001 as well as providing almost half the swimmers for the Maryland Zone All Star Team.

A Community of Learning
As NBAC expanded the scope of its programs, the fundamental values of hard work, attention to detail, and progressive goal setting have remained intact. The North Baltimore Swim School teaches thousands of children at two locations in the greater Baltimore area. The NBAC Stroke Clinic serves as a stepping stone from the lesson program to the competitive team, and also provides instruction for hundreds of summer league swimmers. The NBAC competitive Program consists of 7 levels which are carefully designed to introduce young swimmers to competitive procedures and techniques while gradually increasing their ability to train. The NBAC Masters program provides exercise and social opportunities for adults.

NBAC is active in the administration of Maryland Swimming, Inc. and in USA Swimming. Murray Stephens sits on the board of directors of both organizations as well as serving as Vice President of the American Swimming Coaches Association. NBAC parents serve in the leadership pf local officials organizations and host 5 highly regarded swimming meets each year. North Baltimore hosted the 1999 and 2000 World Cup Meets and the Eastern Zone Sectional Championships. NBAC parents and swimmers are very active in local summer leagues and are instrumental to the success of those teams.

A Vision of Excellence
In a constant search for committed and talented athletes, NBAC has expanded into Harford County, Maryland and South Central Pennsylvania. These satellite programs are but part of NBAC's plan to expand its time-tested methods of achievement, learning and excellence to the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. An ever growing network of coaches, teachers, physiotherapists, medical professionals, nutritionists, and others have joined in NBAC's state of the art support team.

By building and aquiring his own facilities, Murray Stephens has given NBAC access to 2 long course pools, 3 short course pools, and two warm water teaching pools. The team is staffed by professional coaches, who are challenged to provide cutting edge technical instruction and performance preparation. Visiting coaches from around the world add to the learning environment. Technical support including video analysis, medical testing, and an incomparable network of support is available.

Led by Olympian Katie Hoff, swimmers are already focused on 2008 Games in Beijing. Top age group swimmers will compete with the nation's best in their quest to join the ranks of NBAC's Senior Performance division. All the while, tomorrow's stars are being taught in the developmental programs and swim school. The faces may change from decade to decade, but the credo is still the same:
