Canadian Swimming Coaches Initiates Strategic Review of Swimming in Canada

The Executive of the Canadian Swimming Coaches' and Teachers Association (CSCTA) Board of Directors which represents over 2,000 professional swimming coaches across Canada met on September 5th to discuss the current status of Canadian swimming. The CSCTA will be initiating a strategic review process examining the state of Canadian swimming, and looking at future steps needed to move swimming forward.

This review will be conducted by a CSCTA working group. The working group will be lead by Dr. Jeno Tihanyi, coach of Olympic Gold Medallist and World Record Holder Alex Bauman and will work with an Advisory Panel representative of coaches, athletes, administrators and resource personnel from across Canada.

For the past nine months the CSCTA has discussed the need for a full technical review with Swimming Natation Canada (SNC) President Rob Colburn. The SNC Board will be conducting its own technical review to assess all areas of swimming in Canada. The CSCTA supports Colburn's comments in a recent Globe and Mail article that "We're not disappointed in the swimmers
